暨南大学是中国历史最悠久的大学之一。学校的前身是1906年清政府创立于南京的暨南学堂。2019年8月，中央统战部、教育部、广东省人民政府决定共同建设暨南大学，学校目前直属中央统战部管理。

暨南大学马克思主义学院马克思主义理论一级学科博士、硕士学位授权点，以及马克思主义理论本科专业，形成马克思主义理论本硕博一体化人才培养体系。目前硕士学位点下设马克思主义基本原理、马克思主义中国化研究、思想政治教育、党的建设四个专业，是广东省首批重点马克思主义学院。现有中央统战部、中宣部、教育部、国家民委“铸牢中华民族共同体意识研究基地”、教育部高校思想政治工作创新发展中心、广东省习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想研究中心暨南大学研究基地、广州市青年马克思主义理论人才培养研究重点基地等10余个研究平台。

根据学校规定，招收大陆地区高校优秀本科应届推免生，报名需满足以下条件：

（一）拥护中国共产党的领导，愿为社会主义现代化建设服务，品德高尚，遵纪守法，学习期间未受过任何处分。身心健康，符合国家和招生单位体检及相关要求。勤奋好学，思维敏捷，专业基础知识扎实，具有较强的实践能力和创新能力。
