<span style="outline: 0px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 15px; box-sizing: border-box;">2006年，预测中心在时任全国人大常委会副委员长、中国科学院院长路甬祥院士的直接推动和亲自指导下成立，包括五个预测研究部：预测理论与方法研究部、宏观经济与产业研究部、农产品预测与粮食安全研究部、国际市场预测与预警研究部、战略资源与政策研究部。原国务院副总理刘延东同志曾经批示道：“预测中心以解决现实问题促进理论创新,以理论创新提升能力水平,为国家宏观决策服务,这一研究方向和科学态度值得赞许和发扬。”预测中心定位于集高端智库、前沿科研和人才培养三位一体的研究中心，作为中国经济与社会发展领域的一个重要预测研究中心，为中央和政府进行重大决策提供科学依据和重要建议；针对经济与社会发展中的重大决策问题与基本科学问题，开展预测理论、方法与技术的创新研究，推动预测科学的研究与发展；通过研究生计划和短期培训等方式，为中国和国际社会培养经济预测与社会预警领域的高端杰出人才。</span>
